Marketing tactics are the small, specific methodologies & actions that you take to execute marketing strategies. Marketing Tactics VS Marketing Strategies:

Marketing tactics are not the same as marketing strategies. Marketing strategies are long-term and more complex, while marketing tactics are short-term, quick, and time-sensitive.

Marketing strategies are the overarching plans for how you will achieve success within your market. A marketing strategy is typically more comprehensive and includes long-term initiatives, such as creating relationships with influencers, brand building, platform development, etc. A marketing strategy is a method chosen to achieve a particular goal.

Marketing tactics are the individual components that make up the marketing strategy.

My favorite saying that really clarifies this is “Marketing tactics comprise marketing strategies which accomplish marketing objectives set by a marketing plan, A marketing plan sets marketing objectives accomplished by marketing strategies comprised of marketing tactics.” - Alan Lee (AKA) Me

Why Should I Use Marketing Tactics?

You should use marketing tactics because they help you reach your goals more effectively and efficiently. These tactics can be used for both small and large businesses alike. The marketing tactics that a company uses have a huge impact on the company's success. A company can use marketing tactics to reach their desired goals, whether it is increased sales or increased customer engagement. Marketing tactics are a simply way for small businesses to create an upward trend in their business.

When Should I Use Marketing Tactics?

You should use marketing tactics when you are trying to achieve marketing objectives such as raising your company's awareness, creating a more personal connection with your market, reducing churn thus increasing retention and brand loyalty etc. Marketing tactics can help you become more persuasive, increase customer satisfaction, and prove that you're invested in your customers' success.

With that said you can not use all marketing tactics in all circumstances. Different tactics work best in various industries, at different times of the year, and on different people. Some of these tactics are more effective with specific demographics, while others might only be effective online. For example, some companies use social media to advertise products that are not physical products to be sold at a physical location such as Uber or Instagram, and their tactics on social media to grow their user base will differ greatly from the tactics used by a geo-locked local business trying to get new customers in the door.
